Season 18 will likely go down in history as the least successful season of The View<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 All three of the newly-hired co-hosts vanished.\u00a0 For a while, it looked like Whoopi <\/strong>was going to be on the show all by herself.\u00a0 Then Raven-Symon\u00e9 <\/strong>was hired.\u00a0 Then Michelle Collins <\/strong>was hired.\u00a0 Then Candace Cameron Bure <\/strong>was hired.\u00a0 Then Paula Faris <\/strong>was hired.\u00a0 For those of you keeping count, that’s five co-hosts – the most the show has ever had.\u00a0 But Candace will also be filming the Full House<\/em><\/strong> reboot, and Paula hosts Good Morning America<\/em><\/strong> on the weekends.\u00a0 So they needed some fill-ins.\u00a0 Enter Stacy London<\/strong>, Ana Navarro<\/strong>, Molly Sims <\/strong>and Sherri Shepherd<\/strong>.\u00a0 Yes, Sherri Shepherd – one of the few co-hosts in the history of “The View” to actually leave of her own accord.<\/p>\n

Then ABC<\/em> announced that Joy Behar <\/strong>is back.\u00a0 Not only is she back – she’s back as a permanent host.\u00a0 How did this happen?\u00a0 When planning for this revamped panel, the network asked both Sherri and Joy to return.\u00a0 Both entered into negotiations.\u00a0 The idea of this rotating slot appealed to Sherri, who still acts and does stand-up around the country.\u00a0 She was in.\u00a0 Joy was less than thrilled.\u00a0 “They’ve come to me, and we couldn’t make a deal.\u00a0 They wouldn’t really negotiate well enough for me.\u00a0 And so I said, ‘No, I’m not coming back.’\u00a0 I mean, if they were giving me a bigger role on the show, and giving me some power to actually make some changes and let them benefit from my expertise after being there for 16 years – but they’re not going to do that, so why would I want to bang my head against the wall?”\u00a0 A big issue was the money – we hear Joy wanted $3 million for the part-time gig.\u00a0 The network balked, Joy walked.\u00a0 Then Barbara Walters <\/strong>went to bat for Behar.\u00a0 Babs was disgusted with how the show has been run since her retirement, and insisted that Joy be re-hired.\u00a0 But wait, there’s more.\u00a0 Because the show will now be live on Fridays, Whoopi will take that day off and guess who will be the moderator?\u00a0 Joy, that’s who.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
