It’s been downhill ever since Sam Smith\u00a0<\/strong>had the statuette in his hand.\u00a0 First, Sam misquoted Sir Ian McKellen <\/strong>talking about how no openly gay man has ever won an Oscar<\/em>.\u00a0 I corrected him shortly thereafter.\u00a0 Then Sir Ian Tweeted<\/em>, “I’d said no openly gay actor had received #Oscars – that doesn’t detract from #samsmithworld achievement.\u00a0 Congratulations to him @ all others!”.\u00a0 Talk about handling it in a classy way.<\/p>\n

Of course, there’s Dustin Lance Black<\/strong>‘s way.\u00a0 He immediately took to Twitter <\/em>and posted a link to his 2009 acceptance speech and added, “Hey @SamSmithWorld, if you have no idea who I am, it may be time to stop texting my fianc\u00e9.”\u00a0 Most people took this as catty and bitchy.\u00a0 I mean, you’ve got an Oscar<\/em>, you’ve got money, you’re engaged to a hot guy half your age – why not let it go?\u00a0 I’d certainly take the high road (although I’d be wondering what Sam Smith is doing with Tom Daley<\/strong>‘s phone number).\u00a0 Following the backlash, DLB said he meant his Tweet <\/em>to be taken humorously.\u00a0 Because, if there’s one thing we know about Lance – aside from his lack of condom use when receiving anal sex – it’s that he’s a LAUGH RIOT!\u00a0 He’s the next Lucy!\u00a0 Whenever I go into a Dustin Lance Black movie, I know I’m gonna laugh so hard, I may pee!<\/p>\n

And yet, that wasn’t it for poor Sam Smith.\u00a0 When someone in the press room pointed out that openly gay lyricist Howard Ashman <\/strong>won in the same category twice for The Little Mermaid<\/em><\/strong> and Beauty and the Beast<\/em><\/strong>, Sam quipped, “I should know him.\u00a0 We should date.”\u00a0 Uh, Sam, Howard Ashman died in 1991.\u00a0 After this last gaffe, Smith took a sabbatical from Twitter<\/em>….and not a moment too soon!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
