a show most of you aren’t watching, if ratings mean anything. On the show, Noah plays a 16-year-old gay boy. In real life, Galvin is an openly gay actor – although, he’s not 16, he’s 22 (which means this show should have been on FOX, where high school students are typically played by actors who are members of AARP). Galvin’s interview was titled, “Noah Galvin has nothing to hide”. He was so outspoken, Vanity Fair wrote an article called, “Real O’Neals star Noah Galvin Is Refreshingly Candid About Being Gay In Hollywood”. Alas, most others took Noah to task. Within hours, he refuted virtually each of his inflammatory statements. “The entire interview I gave to Vulture has hurt the LGBTQ community and the industry I feel truly fortunate to be a part of. I apologize to everyone that I’ve hurt with my comments, and understand the damage that has been done.” While I’m sure he was pressured to backpedal, I’m sad that he gave in.

Some of his comments were certainly ungracious. When talking about young gay kids reaching out to him, he says, “I’m still figuring out my own bullshit. I’ve got struggles of my own. I don’t have time to be your fucking soothsayer.” There was a telling story about a guest star hitting on him. “At one point I turned to him and was like, ‘Are you gay?’ And he was like, ‘Well…I don’t know. I’m more like, go with the flow.’ And I was like, ‘Shut the fuck up. Get out of my face with your wishy-washy bullshit answer. You’re a fucking faggot. Like, I know you are. You know you are. Stop beating around the bush. Just go make out with me in my dressing room.'”

Romance may not be his forte. “My dating life is already pretty shitty because I look like a 12-year-old. Being on TV just adds another level of difficulty to the dating thing. First of all, I’m gay, and that’s just hard because gays are naturally a promiscuous collective of people. So there’s the lack of monogamy and then there’s me looking like a 12-year-old. And then there’s being in LA, where half of the men are closeted and the other half are just dumb.” I must congratulate Noah on being so bitter at 22; that didn’t happen to me until my 40s! And yet, he also admits to dating two people – one who is 24 and the other who is 38. At least he has the wherewithal to realize one thing: “I’m slightly capitalizing on the fact that I’m on a TV show, to a certain extent. Using my slight fame to be with sexier people that I normally could be if I wasn’t on a TV show.”

What ruffled the most feathers were his statements about the recently out Colton Haynes. “That’s not coming out. He didn’t actually say he was gay. That’s fucking pussy bullshit. That’s like, ‘Enough people assume that I sleep with men, so I’m just going to slightly confirm the fact that I’ve sucked a dick or two.’ That’s not doing anything for the little gays, but giving them more masturbation material.” It’s an ironic comment from someone who last month Tweeted Colton’s coming out article and said, “Lezgo bro. Prouda you”
