You know how after you’ve broken up with someone, you start to romanticize the relationship?\u00a0 It wasn’t that bad.\u00a0 Maybe you shouldn’t have broken up.\u00a0 After a while, you give the ex a call and get together…just to see.\u00a0 And you know what you will invariably discover?\u00a0 That you were right to break up in the first place.\u00a0 That sums up the long-awaited Looking: The Movie<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Spoiler alert: HBO <\/em>has found a way to unmemorably tie up the loose ends of a show that was unmemorable to begin with.\u00a0 Only time will tell if this film will also (erroneously) be regarded fondly upon reflection.\u00a0 But it reminded me of every reason why initial viewers tuned out in droves.\u00a0 For the first half hour, I kept wondering, “Who talks like this?”\u00a0 I distracted myself trying to figure out whether the problem was the writing, the direction, the acting, or (d) all of the above.\u00a0 Then, after 45 minutes, something finally happened.\u00a0 That oasis lasted 10 minutes.\u00a0 Precious little has changed for these characters since HBO <\/em>put them out of their misery last March.\u00a0 But that didn’t stop the 30-somethings from apologizing for being out of touch.\u00a0 Hello?\u00a0 Is it 1983?\u00a0 Perhaps.\u00a0 After all, the best acting came from 1983 Best Actress Emmy Award <\/em>winner, Tyne Daly<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

One member of the Looking<\/em> cast had reason to celebrate last week.\u00a0 Daniel Franzese <\/strong>(formerly best known for his role in Mean Girls<\/em><\/strong>) got engaged.\u00a0 The proposal took place at the same North Hollywood Starbucks <\/em>where he met his beau, Joseph Bradley Phillips<\/strong>, over a year ago.\u00a0 Daniel gave the barista a ring and had him put it in a cup labeled Mr. and Mr. Franzese.\u00a0 Needless to say, Phillips said yes.\u00a0 “Joseph has given me the best of his heart.\u00a0 Finding my soulmate has made all the years I struggled with myself worth it,” says Franzese.\u00a0 Congrats!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
