{"id":22131,"date":"2020-09-21T00:47:14","date_gmt":"2020-09-21T07:47:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/?p=22131"},"modified":"2020-09-21T00:47:14","modified_gmt":"2020-09-21T07:47:14","slug":"rest-in-peace-rbg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/blog\/2020\/09\/21\/rest-in-peace-rbg\/","title":{"rendered":"Rest In Peace, RBG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&#8220;My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.&#8221;<\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&nbsp;&nbsp;<br \/>\n\u2013 <\/em><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><strong>Ruth Bader Ginsburg<\/strong>, as said to her granddaughter <strong>Clara Spera<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I am most certainly no politico.&nbsp; But I am an innately curious person.&nbsp; Remember when <em>Supreme Court Justice<\/em> <strong>Antonin Scalia <\/strong>died nine months before the 2016 election?&nbsp; <strong>Mitch McConnell <\/strong>blocked hearings for a replacement, saying, \u201cThe American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court justice.&nbsp; Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president.\u201d&nbsp; Do you know where McConnell got that idea?&nbsp; <strong>Joe Biden<\/strong>!&nbsp; Way back in 1992, Senator Biden asserted that if a <em>Supreme Court Justice <\/em>died while <strong>George H.W. Bush <\/strong>was president, the seat should remain vacant until after the election, or the Republican president should nominate a moderate to placate the Democratic Senate.&nbsp; McConnell cited the so-called \u201cBiden Rule\u201d, and I can\u2019t see why it shouldn\u2019t be employed again right now.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.&#8221;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u2013 Ruth Bader Ginsburg, as said to her granddaughter Clara Spera.
