Last week, numerous sources claimed Trump <\/strong>planned to sign a “religious freedom” executive order which would roll back protections to members of the LGBT community in the workplace.\u00a0 It’s been rumored that the bill was being prepared by Pence <\/strong>and his followers.\u00a0 Allegedly Trump didn’t even know about it.\u00a0 A few early drafts leaked.\u00a0 Protests were hurriedly mounted around the country.\u00a0 And each day…nothing.\u00a0 On Thursday night, everyone said Friday was the day.\u00a0 And on Friday, no bill was forthcoming.\u00a0 But an explanation emerged.\u00a0 Support for our community came from Ivanka Trump <\/strong>and Jared Kushner<\/strong>, Ivanka’s husband and Trump aide.\u00a0 Ivanka is a registered Independent and has been described as very progressive; Kushner is a lifelong Democrat.\u00a0 Allegedly, the couple not only argued against the order, but felt it was important to send out a strong message denying the rumor.\u00a0 The White House <\/em>released a statement: “President Donald J. Trump <\/strong>is determined to protect the rights of all Americans, including the LGBTQ community.”\u00a0 It’s said the draft was one of about 200 that was written but never even reached Trump’s desk.\u00a0 “Some are real, some are drafts of things people like, and some are ideas people from outside have suggested.”\u00a0 While there’s still much to question and worry about, let’s savor the positive when we see it.<\/p>\n

Alas, last week also brought bad news to Ivanka.\u00a0 While she was helping the LGBT community, Nordstrom <\/em>decided to drop her brand.\u00a0 While people protesting any store carrying a Trump product call this a win, the company says declining sales led to the decision.\u00a0 The retailer says it had 71 pieces in December.\u00a0 Two weeks ago, it dropped to 26.\u00a0 Last week, only 9 remain.\u00a0 So if you want your Ivanka stuff, go to Nordstrom – they’re going like hotcakes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
