Davies<\/strong>\u2019 show on UK television in which he made a point of only casting gay actors as gay characters \u2013 echoing calls to not allow heterosexual actors to play gay roles.&nbsp; Joining me on the contrary side of this argument is <strong>Neil Patrick Harris<\/strong>.&nbsp; \u201cI think there\u2019s something sexy about casting a straight actor to play a gay role \u2013 if they\u2019re willing to invest a lot into it.&nbsp; I played a character for nine years who was nothing like me.&nbsp; I would definitely want to hire the best actor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was just announced that <strong>Michelle Pfeiffer <\/strong>will play former first lady, <strong>Betty Ford <\/strong>in a limited series for <em>Showtime<\/em>.&nbsp; One wonders if she will take up drinking or just acting drunk.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in US television, rumors are running rife that the gaping hole created by the absence of <strong>Kim Cattrall <\/strong>in the reboot of <strong><em>Sex and the City<\/em><\/strong> will be filled by\u2026wait for it\u2026.<strong>Caitlyn Jenner<\/strong>!&nbsp; There\u2019s no nice way of saying this \u2013 Caitlyn is not much of an actress.&nbsp; In fact, if you saw <strong>Bruce <\/strong>in <strong><em>Can\u2019t Stop the Music<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 well, that was as good as it gets.&nbsp; If Caitlyn would like to, I dunno, repair cars, sell camping equipment, or do an infomercial for an exercise bike, I\u2019d be all over it.&nbsp; But this?&nbsp; Nah.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Of course, there\u2019s always room for divergent views.&nbsp; I recently told you about Russell T.
