{"id":66646,"date":"2021-08-09T00:14:21","date_gmt":"2021-08-09T07:14:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/?p=66646"},"modified":"2021-08-09T00:14:21","modified_gmt":"2021-08-09T07:14:21","slug":"mccains-last-stand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/blog\/2021\/08\/09\/mccains-last-stand\/","title":{"rendered":"McCain&#8217;s Last Stand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Kathy Griffin <\/strong>was big news this week.&nbsp; First she revealed that she\u2019d been addicted to narcotics.&nbsp; Then there was a suicide attempt.&nbsp; But the big news is she has lung cancer.&nbsp; Happily, the cancer was stage one and operable.&nbsp; Prognosis is good for our favorite funny lady.<\/p>\n<p>While discussing Griffin on <strong><em>The View<\/em><\/strong>, <strong>Meghan McCain <\/strong>referred to Kathy\u2019s old jokes about <strong>Clay Aiken <\/strong>\u2013 whom Meghan described as \u201cone of my closest friends in the entire world\u201d.&nbsp; \u201cI don\u2019t like her.&nbsp; I\u2019m never going to like her,\u201d said McCain.&nbsp; Less than three hours later, Aiken <em>Tweeted <\/em>the following: \u201cLove and prayers for a speedy recovery to my dear friend @kathygriffin.&nbsp; Selfless and gracious, she even hosted a fundraiser for my congressional campaign years ago.&nbsp; Get well soon Kathy.&nbsp; I miss your jokes!\u201d&nbsp; So, we know where he stands.<\/p>\n<p>There was one other noteworthy incident that tainted McCain\u2019s final week on <em>The View<\/em>.&nbsp; She sat out an interview with <strong>Mary Trump<\/strong>, which in itself was no big deal \u2013 one or more co-hosts often skip these remote interviews.&nbsp; But when Trump pointed out Meg\u2019s absence, McCain couldn\u2019t help herself.&nbsp; She <em>Tweeted<\/em>: \u201cThere is no \u2018good\u2019 Trump family member to me.&nbsp; Continue to wish they would all just leave me and my entire family the fuck alone.\u201d&nbsp; Mary, naturally, had to respond: \u201cI have plenty of respect for Meghan\u2019s parents.&nbsp; It\u2019s too bad she can\u2019t take responsibility for her own actions.&nbsp; That\u2019s the problem with entitlement \u2013 it\u2019s dangerous.&nbsp; And so is our failure to hold powerful people accountable.\u201d&nbsp; And so ends the McCain era on <em>The View<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathy Griffin was big news this week.&nbsp; First she revealed that she\u2019d been addicted to narcotics.&nbsp; Then there was a suicide attempt.&nbsp; But the big news is she has lung cancer.&nbsp; Happily, the cancer was stage one and operable.&nbsp; Prognosis is good for our favorite funny lady.
