No sooner had I landed in Las Vegas when tragedy struck.  No Cinnabon<\/em>!!  The airport location is temporarily closed.  Well, now we know why Adele <\/strong>cancelled!  I can\u2019t speak for the songstress, but I had planned to carbo-load at Cinnabon <\/em>for my entire fun-filled, four-day birthday weekend in Vegas.  Instead, I had to suffice with some hurriedly purchased Fig Newtons <\/em>and dash off to see the girls of RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race<\/em><\/strong> in their residency at the Flamingo<\/em>.  Various alums have been part of this live show since it began in 2020.  The current cast features Derrick Barry<\/strong>, Kameron Michaels<\/strong>, Trinity K. Bonet<\/strong>, Jaida Essence Hall <\/strong>and the incredible Eureka O\u2019Hara<\/strong>, with Asia O\u2019Hara <\/strong>as host.  One mustn\u2019t forget the Pit Crew <\/em>which features five sexy men who are also fantastic dancers.  The production values in the Flamingo Showroom <\/em>are ideally suited for this show \u2013 it\u2019s all quite amazing.  In between the numbers, we were treated to some clever video clips featuring RuPaul <\/strong>herself.  Alas, some of the banter between numbers could have been better, and the show could be tighter.  But, these are minor quibbles.  If you are a Drag Race<\/em> fan \u2013 and even if you\u2019re not \u2013 it is a show not to be missed.  Grab tickets at Ticketmaster.com<\/u><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

RuPaul shows no signs of slowing down when it comes to world domination.  Ru will be hosting a reboot of the game show Lingo<\/em><\/strong> for CBS<\/em>.  I don\u2019t remember Lingo<\/em>, but I presume it\u2019s some sort of a literal game \u2013 unless it\u2019s short for \u201cCunni-Lingo\u201d.  Turns out the show originally ran in 1987 and was hosted by Michael Reagan<\/strong>, son of President Ronald Reagan <\/strong>\u2013 so the bar is set pretty low.  Since the host is listed as \u201cRuPaul Charles<\/strong>\u201d, I presume he\u2019ll be dressed as a boy.  By the by, Ru is also one of the executive producers.<\/p>\n

As you know, Adele was unable to come up with a show for Caesars Palace <\/em>that would justify the ticket price of hundreds (or, in some cases, thousands) of dollars.  Rather than just hoist herself on top of a piano and warble some ditties, she left her fans high and dry.  Around the same time, Legends in Concert<\/em><\/strong> re-opened at the Tropicana <\/em>hosted by the legendary Frank Marino <\/strong>as Joan Rivers <\/strong>\u2013 and that\u2019s always a cause for celebration.  As luck would have it, this incarnation of the revue stars a quartet of exceptional female singers \u2013 Tierney Allen <\/strong>as Lady Gaga<\/strong>, Janae Longo <\/strong>as Adele, Lisa McClowry <\/strong>as Cher <\/strong>and Elisa Furr <\/strong>as Celine Dion<\/strong>.  And they\u2019re all fantastic!  As a gesture of goodwill, Legends in Concert<\/em> is offering a limited number of free tickets to people who bought tix to the real Celine and Adele.  To take advantage of this offer, simply head on over to the Tropicana<\/em>\u2019s box office.<\/p>\n

My last night in town was spent with a couple of legends who were also in concert \u2013 Marilyn McCoo <\/strong>and Billy Davis Jr<\/strong>.   They appeared at The Orleans Showroom<\/em>, and it was a great way to not only celebrate my birthday, but also celebrate their Oscar <\/em>nomination.  Marilyn and Billy are featured in Questlove<\/strong>\u2019s Summer of Soul<\/em><\/strong>, which just got an Oscar <\/em>nod for Best Documentary<\/em>.  As to their show\u2026what can I say?  They never disappoint.  In addition to all of the hits, they performed several numbers from their recent Lennon<\/strong>\/McCartney<\/strong> collection entitled Blackbird<\/em><\/strong>.  It was a great concert and the capacity audience enjoyed every second of it.<\/p>\n
