{"id":90608,"date":"2022-07-31T21:41:10","date_gmt":"2022-08-01T04:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/?p=90608"},"modified":"2022-07-31T21:41:10","modified_gmt":"2022-08-01T04:41:10","slug":"joni-and-friends-jam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/blog\/2022\/07\/31\/joni-and-friends-jam\/","title":{"rendered":"Joni and Friends Jam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of my more significant exes was quite a devotee of <strong>Joni Mitchell<\/strong>.&nbsp; While I had a passing interest in the Canadian songstress, I was more of a <strong>Joan Baez <\/strong>kinda guy \u2013 as evidenced by my signature rendition of \u201cThe Night They Drove Old Dixie Down\u201d.&nbsp; After a brain aneurysm in 2015, Joni hasn\u2019t performed publicly.&nbsp; In fact, she\u2019s barely walked publicly.&nbsp; She has, however, had numerous gatherings at her home where singers and musicians have gathered to \u201cjam\u201d \u2013 and, recently, she\u2019s taken baby steps and cautiously joined in.&nbsp; She took a giant step forward last week when <strong><em>Joni Jams<\/em><\/strong> took to the stage at the <strong><em>Newport Folk Festival<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp; Under the leadership of <strong>Brandi Carlile<\/strong>, Joni sang, played the guitar, and luxuriated alongside her younger colleagues. &nbsp;It\u2019s fascinating that Mitchell singing more than an octave lower with the thread of a voice is being lauded while <strong>Barbra<\/strong>, who occasionally lowers songs by a few keys, is criticized.&nbsp; Perhaps if she had a stroke\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adele <\/strong>has announced new dates for her Las Vegas residency.&nbsp; She will now play <em>Caesars Palace <\/em>November 18<sup>th<\/sup> through March 25<sup>th<\/sup>, and tickets start at over $1K!&nbsp; My advice is to sit this one out.&nbsp; In the words of <strong>George W.
