{"id":90730,"date":"2022-09-11T14:43:08","date_gmt":"2022-09-11T21:43:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/?p=90730"},"modified":"2022-09-11T14:43:08","modified_gmt":"2022-09-11T21:43:08","slug":"eichner-vs-booster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/blog\/2022\/09\/11\/eichner-vs-booster\/","title":{"rendered":"Eichner vs. Booster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our <strong><em>Ask Billy<\/em><\/strong> question came from <strong>Kurt <\/strong>in Los Angeles: <em>\u201cWhat is this feud between <strong>Billy Eichner <\/strong>and <strong>Joel Kim Booster <\/strong>about?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Many people believe the problem started when <em>Entertainment Weekly<\/em> put both Eichner and Booster on their cover with the caption \u201cRedefining the Rom-Com\u201d.&nbsp; Personally, I don\u2019t think Billy enjoyed being lumped in with Booster.&nbsp; So when he got a solo cover on <em>Variety<\/em>, he crowed about how his film <strong><em>Bros<\/em> <\/strong>was historic because it\u2019s a gay film being released by a major studio for theatrical release instead of \u201csome streaming thing which feels disposable, or which is like one of a million <em>Netflix <\/em>shows\u201d. &nbsp;Many took this as a dig against <strong><em>Fire Island<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 a gay film starring Booster on <em>Hulu <\/em>(close enough).&nbsp; Booster had this to say:&nbsp; \u201cIt seems like [Billy] was pretty inarticulate in his excitement about his movie getting a theatrical release, which is really fucking cool and something I\u2019m sure the studio and his publicist is making him constantly talk about.&nbsp; God knows I\u2019ve said plenty of dumb shit without a publicist\u2019s help.\u201d&nbsp; He added, \u201cI\u2019m excited to see \u2018Bros\u2019 on the big screen and wish Billy nothing but the best.&nbsp; I truly hope you can enjoy both or neither of our movies without pitting them against each other.\u201d&nbsp; Eichner then clarified that he was \u201cnot at ALL referring to the quality\u201d of these other projects, gave kudos to Joel, and ended with \u201cwe are all in this together\u201d.&nbsp; Early reviews are largely positive.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/colorbar1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-568\" src=\"http:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/colorbar1.gif\" alt=\"colorbar1\" width=\"500\" height=\"1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When Eichner\u2019s trying to top Booster (as if), it\u2019s definitely time to end yet another column.&nbsp; It\u2019s a little bit funny \u2013 last week we were talking about the 25<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of <strong>Princess Diana<\/strong>\u2019s funeral, and now we have another royal funeral upon us.&nbsp;
