Gloria Estefan <\/strong>is celebrating a landmark.  She\u2019s now in the company of people like Cher<\/strong>, Diana Ross<\/strong>, Barbra Streisand<\/strong>, and even Queen Elizabeth II<\/strong>.  Yes, Gloria Estefan has her own Barbie <\/em><\/strong>doll!  \u201cOverjoyed is pretty much the word.  I\u2019ve gotten every award that you could possibly imagine.  But somehow this was so incredibly special for me, maybe because I played with Barbie since I was a kid, a little girl, and she\u2019s an American icon!\u201d  It was important to Gloria that everything about her doll be perfect.  \u201cI actually sent them my thigh high boots and my jacket so that they could see the detail.  That jewelry, the microphone, we made sure the hair was right, that she represented me in the way that was important to me.  And I\u2019m just beyond thrilled.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those clever people at Mattel <\/em>are always thinking.  Just when you thought they\u2019d done it all \u2013 complete with 2019\u2019s Wheelchair Barbie <\/em><\/strong>\u2013 they\u2019ve unveiled a new line that fills an untapped market. We now have Barbies <\/em>and Kens <\/em>who wear hearing aids, have prosthetic limbs, and even suffer from vitiligo!  According to a spokesperson, the Barbie <\/em>sporting an over-the-ear hearing aid is the most requested of the variety.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
