D-O-N-E, done!&nbsp; She just made an announcement via <em>Twitter<\/em>: \u201cQuite a week on Broadway, seeing my name being bandied about.&nbsp; Gave up my Equity card; no longer part of that circus.&nbsp; Figure it out.\u201d&nbsp; Lots to unpack here.&nbsp; First, LuPone stated after <strong><em>War Paint<\/em><\/strong> that she didn\u2019t see herself doing another <em>Broadway <\/em>show.&nbsp; Then came <strong><em>Company<\/em><\/strong>, which brought her another <em>Tony Award<\/em>.&nbsp; She says, \u201cWhen the run of <em>Company <\/em>ended this past July, I knew I wouldn\u2019t be on stage for a very long time.&nbsp; And at that point I made the decision to resign from Equity.\u201d&nbsp; Then there\u2019s \u201cseeing my name being bandied about\u201d.&nbsp; This refers to the incident where <strong>Lillias White <\/strong>chastised an audience member for recording the show, when they were actually using a closed-captioning device.&nbsp; Oops.&nbsp; News outlets made parallels to Patti lashing out at an audience member for taking photos during <strong><em>Gypsy<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp; All neither here nor there, according to LuPone.&nbsp; Of <em>Actors Equity<\/em>, she says, \u201cThey\u2019re just not good.&nbsp; And I just didn\u2019t want to give them any more money\u2026The best kept secret is that you can perform without being a member of Equity.&nbsp; Nobody knows that, so I don\u2019t use their services.\u201d&nbsp; Well, I knew it\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/colorbar1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-568\" src=\"http:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/colorbar1.gif\" alt=\"colorbar1\" width=\"500\" height=\"1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Patti\u2019s getting out in the nick of time.&nbsp; It\u2019s the beginning of the end \u2013 or perhaps the middle of the end (<em>Disney <\/em>was probably the start).&nbsp; New York State is allowing three casinos to operate in the Manhattan area.&nbsp; Since two will likely go to existing betting locales in racetracks, one is up for grabs.&nbsp; <em>Caesars<\/em> <em>Palace<\/em> has proposed building a casino right in the middle of <em>Times Square<\/em>, \u2018cause that\u2019s what NYC needs \u2013 more tourists and traffic!&nbsp; Their location would be above the <em>Minskoff Theatre<\/em>, which currently houses <strong><em>The Lion King<\/em><\/strong> (the theatre would be incorporated into the plans).&nbsp; However, there is competition. <em>Wynn Resorts <\/em>would like to build a casino at <em>Hudson Yards<\/em>.&nbsp; Which all begs the question \u2013 aren\u2019t casinos illegal unless they are on Native American land??&nbsp; And who came up with that bright idea anyway?&nbsp; I know they sold New York for a handful of beads, but a deal\u2019s a deal!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Patti LuPone is DONE.&nbsp;
