Congrats to all the other <strong>Queen of Christmases<br \/>\n<\/strong>around the world, living and whom have passed!\u201d<\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><br \/>\n\u2013 <\/em><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><strong>Darlene Love <\/strong>celebrates <strong>Mariah <\/strong>losing her bid to trademark the term <strong><em>Queen of Christmas<\/em><\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Did you know that <strong>Billy<\/strong>\u2019s hometown gave birth to not one but two holiday ditties?&nbsp; Most evidence points to <strong><em>Jingle Bells<\/em><\/strong> being written by <strong>James Lord Pierpont <\/strong>in Medford, Massachusetts.&nbsp; We\u2019ll just skim over the fact that it was first performed in a minstrel show and, instead, tell you this little-known fact \u2013 it was written for Thanksgiving.&nbsp; And that leads us to the second holiday song to come from my modest hamlet.&nbsp; I don\u2019t know how popular it is around the country, but I grew up with <strong><em>Over the River and Through the Woods<\/em><\/strong>, written by <strong>Lydia Maria Child<\/strong>.&nbsp; In school, we sang all four stanzas.&nbsp; It wasn\u2019t until the pandemic that I actually walked the roughly five-block route Miss Child describes to her grandparents\u2019 house.&nbsp; She writes, \u201cThe horse knows the way to carry the sleigh, through the white and drifted snow\u201d.&nbsp; I\u2019m not convinced that horse actually knew the way, because I walked that route in only two stanzas!&nbsp; And here\u2019s another fun fact \u2013 I have certain attributes that have been compared to a horse.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/colorbar1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-568\" src=\"http:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/colorbar1.gif\" alt=\"colorbar1\" width=\"500\" height=\"1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Attention, everyone \u2013 <strong>Mariah Carey <\/strong>is NOT the <em>Queen of Christmas<\/em>.&nbsp; Although Mimi filed to trademark the term, her application was, as <strong>Suze Orman <\/strong>used to say, \u201cDenied\u201d.&nbsp; She also attempted to trademark the phrases <strong><em>Princess of Christmas<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Christmas Princess<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp; Those were also (say it with me) \u201cDenied\u201d!&nbsp; This, of course, is good news to the longest-reigning Queen of Christmas \u2013 Darlene Love!&nbsp; The Queen is dead, long live the Queen!<\/p>\n<p>While promoting her rather curious <em>NBC <\/em>special <strong><em>Dolly Parton\u2019s Mountain Magic Christmas<\/em><\/strong>, the superstar took umbrage when someone called her the <em>Queen of Christmas<\/em>.&nbsp; \u201cNow, don\u2019t you say that.&nbsp; I\u2019m not going to compete with Mariah,\u201d said Dolly.&nbsp; \u201cI love her.&nbsp; You think of Christmas, you think of Mariah.&nbsp; I\u2019m happy to be second in line to her.\u201d&nbsp; Carey returned the compliment via social media.&nbsp; \u201cDolly, let\u2019s settle this one\u2026You are the Queen of Everything!&nbsp; The Queen of the World, The Queen of Christmas, The Queen of Mine!!&nbsp; Love you!!!!\u201d&nbsp; Parton, who obviously enjoys having the last word, responded with, \u201cI will always love you\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>By the by, Carey has joined the producing team of the new <em>Broadway <\/em>musical based on the film <strong><em>Some Like It Hot<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp; \u201cTo see how this show continues to expand on the film\u2019s legacy \u2013 pushing boundaries, promoting inclusion, celebrating diversity \u2013 I\u2019m proud to help bring <em>Some Like It Hot <\/em>for today\u2019s world to new audiences.\u201d&nbsp; This stage version of the classic film (not to be confused with the 1972 musical version, <strong><em>Sugar<\/em><\/strong>), has been written by the talented twosome behind the hit <em>Broadway <\/em>musical <strong><em>Hairspray<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Marc Shaiman <\/strong>and <strong>Scott Wittman<\/strong>.&nbsp;&nbsp;
