{"id":91086,"date":"2023-01-15T19:58:59","date_gmt":"2023-01-16T03:58:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/?p=91086"},"modified":"2023-01-15T19:58:59","modified_gmt":"2023-01-16T03:58:59","slug":"globes-and-grammys","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/blog\/2023\/01\/15\/globes-and-grammys\/","title":{"rendered":"Globes and Grammys"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cAs a gay man, I want to apologize for all the gays<br \/>\non behalf of what we tried to do to her on that boat!<\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201d<\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><br \/>\n\u2013 <\/em><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><strong>Jerrod Carmichael <\/strong>takes a moment out of the <strong><em>Golden Globes <\/em><\/strong>to apologize to <strong><em>White Lotus<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nstar <strong>Jennifer Coolidge<\/strong>, who memorably exclaimed, \u201cThese gays \u2013 they\u2019re trying to murder me!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>The Golden Globes <\/em>returned to <em>NBC<\/em>\u2026with a thud.&nbsp; It was one of the least viewed <em>Globes <\/em>in television history \u2013 second only to the year when the awards were handed out at a press conference during the 2008 writers strike.&nbsp; Getting higher ratings than <strong>Nancy O\u2019Dell <\/strong>and <strong>Billy Bush <\/strong>is a dubious distinction, but one <strong>Jerrod Carmichael <\/strong>has to his credit.&nbsp; Opinions were split as to how he did, but if <strong>Shelly Miscavige <\/strong>turns up, he\u2019ll be lauded a hero.&nbsp; I want to send out special props to <strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong>, who singled out <strong>Mj Rodriguez<\/strong>, <strong>Billy Porter<\/strong>, <strong>Niecy Nash<\/strong>, <strong>Matt Bomer<\/strong>, and <strong>Jeremy Pope <\/strong>in accepting the <em>Carol Burnett Award<\/em>.&nbsp; \u201cI have dedicated most of my lifetime achievement speech here tonight to these wonderful actors I worked with to make a point of hope and progress.\u201d&nbsp; <em>Bravo<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Grammy Awards <\/em>just announced they\u2019ll present a <em>Lifetime Achievement Award <\/em>to a legendary group who never won an award.&nbsp; In fact, they were only nominated twice.&nbsp; <strong><em>The Supremes<\/em><\/strong>!&nbsp; This is not unprecedented.&nbsp; In 2012, a <em>Lifetime Achievement Award <\/em>was given out to a legendary artist who was nominated 10 times and never won anything.&nbsp; <strong>Diane Ross<\/strong>!&nbsp; This has started a guessing game \u2013 who will accept on behalf of <em>The Supremes<\/em>?&nbsp; In the past, Miss Ross would never attend an event where she\u2019d run into <strong>Mary Wilson<\/strong>.&nbsp; Since Mary died two years ago, this leaves Diane as the sole founding member (we\u2019ve also lost <strong>Florence Ballard<\/strong>, <strong>Barbara Martin <\/strong>and <strong>Betty McGlown<\/strong>).&nbsp;
