{"id":91317,"date":"2023-04-09T23:29:13","date_gmt":"2023-04-10T06:29:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/?p=91317"},"modified":"2023-04-09T23:29:13","modified_gmt":"2023-04-10T06:29:13","slug":"rip-heklina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/blog\/2023\/04\/09\/rip-heklina\/","title":{"rendered":"RIP Heklina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cSwallowing is really a good thing.&nbsp; It\u2019s got a lot of protein.&nbsp;<br \/>\nThere is something to be said for it after you put in the hard work.<\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201d<\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><br \/>\n\u2013 <\/em><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><strong>Christina Aguilera<\/strong>.&nbsp; I think my work here is done.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The word \u201clegendary\u201d is tossed around haphazardly these days.&nbsp; But <strong>Heklina <\/strong>was just that\u2026legendary.&nbsp; The drag diva was a multi-hyphenate, best known for founding <strong><em>Trannyshack <\/em><\/strong>in 1996, a weekly fixture at <em>The Stud <\/em>in San Francisco.&nbsp; Ironically, one of the reasons for its demise was many people\u2019s distaste for the term \u201ctranny\u201d.&nbsp; Heklina, undaunted, moved on to a number of other endeavors and became a worldwide drag phenomenon.&nbsp; Last week, in the midst of a UK tour of <strong><em>Mommie Queerest<\/em><\/strong> with pal <strong>Peaches Christ<\/strong>, she was found dead in their apartment.&nbsp; No cause of death has been determined, but foul play is not suspected.&nbsp; Heklina \u2013 aka <strong>Stefan Grygelko <\/strong>\u2013 was 55.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/colorbar1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-568\" src=\"http:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/colorbar1.gif\" alt=\"colorbar1\" width=\"500\" height=\"1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some episodes of <strong><em>Doctor Who<\/em><\/strong> will be released over the holidays, and the latest \u201cdoctor\u201d will be someone from our tribe.&nbsp; <strong>Ncuti Gatwa <\/strong>will not only be the first black <em>Doctor Who<\/em>, he\u2019ll also be the first queer one!&nbsp; I should also mention he\u2019s mighty hot and has never been afraid to show some skin, as you\u2019ll see on our website.&nbsp; His tenure at the helm will coincide with some special guest stars.&nbsp; Showrunner <strong>Russell T. Davies <\/strong>(of <strong><em>Queer as Folk<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>It\u2019s a Sin<\/em><\/strong>) has said, \u201cIn a galaxy of comets and supernovas, here comes the biggest star of all.&nbsp; <strong>Jinkx Monsoon <\/strong>is on a collision course with the TARDIS and Doctor Who will never be the same again!\u201d&nbsp; Add in the presence of previously announced <strong>Neil Patrick Harris <\/strong>and I expect Florida to ban it any day now.<\/p>\n<p>By the by, NPH is headed back to <em>Broadway<\/em>.&nbsp; <strong><em>Peter Pan Goes Wrong<\/em><\/strong> is an outrageous romp by the people who brought us <strong><em>The Play That Goes Wrong<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp; It opens on April 19<sup>th<\/sup> and will have a number of high-profile celebrity guests.&nbsp; As NPH said, \u201cThe role of the Narrator mostly sits in a chair and reads a book, so apparently no rehearsals are required.&nbsp; I guess that\u2019s fine\u2026what could possibly go wrong?\u201d&nbsp; Catch him in the show through April 30<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cSwallowing is really a good thing.&nbsp; It\u2019s got a lot of protein.&nbsp; There is something to be said for it after you put in the hard work.\u201d \u2013 Christina Aguilera.&nbsp; I think my work here is done.
