{"id":91782,"date":"2023-09-11T00:58:52","date_gmt":"2023-09-11T07:58:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/?p=91782"},"modified":"2023-09-11T00:58:52","modified_gmt":"2023-09-11T07:58:52","slug":"farewell-fanny","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/blog\/2023\/09\/11\/farewell-fanny\/","title":{"rendered":"Farewell, Fanny"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, <strong>Big Mama Masters <\/strong>had surgery.&nbsp; Not one of those life-threatening surgeries that ends in a courtroom battle.&nbsp; But a surgery nonetheless.&nbsp; While 82 seems relatively spry, I couldn\u2019t help but remember that we just passed the anniversary of <strong>Joan Rivers<\/strong>\u2019 death at 81.&nbsp; Anything can happen at any time.&nbsp; All of my childhood friends have lost at least one parent \u2013 in most cases, both parents.&nbsp; In that regard, I suppose I\u2019m lucky \u2013 even though I know <em>Big Mama <\/em>will require more assistance in the coming months.&nbsp; \u201cI\u2019m sorry to be such a burden,\u201d she said just before going under the knife.&nbsp; I assured her she wasn\u2019t a burden.&nbsp; An irritable annoyance, yes.&nbsp; But no burden.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-568\" src=\"http:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/colorbar1.gif\" alt=\"colorbar1\" width=\"500\" height=\"1\"><\/p>\n<p>Speaking of irritable annoyances, <strong>Lea Michele <\/strong>closed <strong><em>Funny Girl<\/em><\/strong> on <em>Broadway <\/em>last week.&nbsp; Don\u2019t get me wrong \u2013 people say she was sensational, and who am I to dispute that?&nbsp; After all, I haven\u2019t seen her.&nbsp; In an absolutely predictable <em>coup de th\u00e9\u00e2tre<\/em>, Michele ended the run by doing exactly what <strong>Streisand <\/strong>did after her final performance \u2013 she sang \u201cMy Man\u201d.&nbsp; And thus, the carbon copy is complete \u2013 and can be seen on <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/\">BillyMasters.com<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Tony <\/em>winner <strong>J.
