Yes, Pride Month<\/em> is in our rear-view mirror, but there was one notable event that happened at the tail end.  On June 28th<\/sup>, the Stonewall National Monument and Visitor Center<\/em><\/strong> had a gala opening which was attended by a number of luminaries.  Spotted in the crowd were Elton John<\/strong>, Neil Patrick Harris<\/strong>, Jason Collins<\/strong>, Michael Kors<\/strong>, Courtney Act<\/strong>, Katy Perry<\/strong>, and even President Biden<\/strong>.  During his remarks, Joe said, \u201cThis beloved bar became the site of a call to cry for freedom, dignity and equality and respect.  Rebellion that galvanized the LGBTQ+ community all across the nation and quite frankly, around the world…To this day, Stonewall remains a symbol of legacy and leader of the LGBTQ+ community, especially trans women of color who, for generations, have been at the forefront of helping realize the promise of America, for all Americans.\u201d  He added, \u201cWe remain in a battle for the soul of America.  But I look around at the pride, hope and light that all of you bring, and I know it\u2019s a battle we are going to win and continue to make progress.\u201d  Try and picture that speech being made by President Trump<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in NYC, the current Elphaba in Wicked<\/em><\/strong> proclaimed herself a proud member of our community.  Mary Kate Morrissey<\/strong> made an appearance at NYC Pride and belted out \u201cDefying Gravity\u201d while wearing a tee that said \u201cHere, Queer, & Wicked\u201d (I personally wouldn\u2019t have used that last comma, but it\u2019s a stylistic choice).  Brava<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Several spawn of celebrities used Pride Month<\/em> to come out.  Louisa Jacobson<\/strong>, the daughter of Meryl Streep<\/strong>, proclaimed her proclivities.  Joining her is Melissa Etheridge<\/strong>\u2019s daughter Bailey<\/strong>, who has announced her engagement to girlfriend Jocelyn Simone<\/strong>.  By the by, I had no idea that Bailey\u2019s last name is a combination of both Melissa and Julie Cypher<\/strong>\u2019s last names \u2013 Cypheridge<\/strong>!  And did you know Sophia Bush<\/strong> is gay?  After two failed marriages (Chad Michael Murray<\/strong> and Grant Hughes<\/strong>), she is now dating soccer player Ashlyn Harris<\/strong>.  After her last divorce, a friend said, \u201cI don\u2019t just think he was not the right person for you \u2013 I also don\u2019t actually think you like men!\u201d  Everyone should have a friend in their life as direct as that.  Now, if only someone could convince Chad Michael Murray that he should be with a man, I could sleep well…or, preferably, not.<\/p>\n

And that leads us to another story involving the lovely CMM.  Production has just begun on a sequel to Freaky Friday<\/em><\/strong>.  Last week, Jamie Lee Curtis<\/strong> and Lindsay Lohan<\/strong> were photographed on the set of the new film, which will also reunite them with Chad Michael Murray<\/strong>, Mark Harmon<\/strong>, and others from the original.<\/p>\n

Continuing the reunion theme, Sandra Bullock<\/strong> and Nicole Kidman<\/strong> are in talks for a second Practical Magic<\/em><\/strong>.  While I don\u2019t know anyone who has been longing for this reteaming, good for them.<\/p>\n
