One of my favorite venues to see live theatre is the historic Pasadena Playhouse<\/em>.  They\u2019ve just announced a revival of the musical La Cage aux Folles<\/em><\/strong> (fun fact \u2013 I believe I\u2019ve had relations with more \u201cCagelles\u201d than Jerry Herman <\/strong>and Harvey Fierstein <\/strong>combined).  Heading the cast is Cheyenne Jackson, who was sitting with Kamala during her Drag Race<\/em> appearance.  Jackson has been doing some interesting and challenging work over the past few years.  Having him take on the role of Georges is quite tantalizing indeed \u2013 it also puts him in the category of a DILF, which I heartily approve.  His Albin will be Kevin Cahoon<\/strong>, most recently having starred in Broadway<\/em>\u2019s Shucked<\/em><\/strong>.  La Cage<\/em> will run November 12 through December 15, and you can get more info and tix at PasadenaPlayhouse.org<\/u><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In some late-breaking news, seems that the Broadway <\/em>production of Cabaret<\/em><\/strong> will be going through some cast changes.  Eddie Redmayne <\/strong>will be leaving the show on September 14th<\/sup>.  Taking his place will be our own Adam Lambert<\/strong>, who will be making his Broadway <\/em>debut (although he was part of the Wicked<\/em><\/strong> national tour, and the Val Kilmer <\/strong>musical version of The Ten Commandments<\/em><\/strong> which played Los Angeles back in 2004).  Joining Lambert will be Auli\u2019i Cravalho<\/strong>, who will replace Gayle Rankin <\/strong>as Sally Bowles.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m rarely wrong, but have no problem admitting when I am.  I openly questioned if Oh, Mary! <\/em><\/strong>\u2013 Cole Escola<\/strong>\u2019s major off-Broadway <\/em>hit \u2013 would be able to transfer to a big Broadway <\/em>house this summer.  It should be noted I mused this situation having not seen the show, which was such a hot ticket that even I could not snag one.  I am nonetheless beyond delighted to say that the Broadway <\/em>transfer has not only been a hit, it\u2019s breaking box office records.  And I still haven\u2019t seen it.  I will likely be able to rectify that situation since it has extended its limited run.  The show will now close no earlier than November 10th<\/sup>.  And something tells me it could be around beyond that.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
