{"id":92950,"date":"2024-08-25T17:18:53","date_gmt":"2024-08-26T00:18:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/?p=92950"},"modified":"2024-08-25T17:18:53","modified_gmt":"2024-08-26T00:18:53","slug":"cars-cobbler-and-crabs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/blog\/2024\/08\/25\/cars-cobbler-and-crabs\/","title":{"rendered":"Cars, Cobbler and Crabs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>\u201cHere is a sentence I never thought I\u2019d hear myself saying:<br \/>\nI\u2019m Pete Buttigieg, and you may recognize me from <strong>FOX<\/strong><strong> News<\/strong>\u201d <\/em><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><br \/>\n\u2013 <\/em><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><strong>Pete Buttigieg <\/strong>at the <em>Democratic National Convention<\/em>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>When did so-called legitimate businesses become run like vendors in a Turkish bazaar?&nbsp; Last week, I tried to transport a car from Boston to Fort Lauderdale.&nbsp; Invariably, I\u2019d get a quote, accept it, and pay a deposit.&nbsp; Then I\u2019d be told that trucks in the area would charge three times the quote \u2013 take it or leave it.&nbsp; I\u2019ve previously shipped cars all over this country, but I have never encountered such deceptive tactics as this.&nbsp; While I was in negotiations, my family celebrated the birthday of <strong>Big Mama Masters <\/strong>\u2013 a woman known for getting her way.&nbsp; She once made a street vendor cry in Rome after talking him down from one hundred thousand lira to $2.50 \u2013 which isn\u2019t quite the jump you\u2019d think.&nbsp; Inspired, I decided to simply drive the car to Florida myself.&nbsp; My first stop was Baltimore \u2013 for crab cakes.&nbsp; The next stop was Savannah \u2013 for peach cobbler.&nbsp; By the time I got to Florida, I was 20 pounds heavier and had a trunk filled with cobbler and crabs \u2013 all for half the original quote.&nbsp; Take that, you shifty vendors!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-568\" src=\"http:\/\/www.billymasters.com\/custom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/colorbar1.gif\" alt=\"colorbar1\" width=\"500\" height=\"1\"><\/p>\n<p>While I was in Savannah eating my weight in peach cobbler, <strong>JD Vance <\/strong>was trying to get somebody \u2013 anybody \u2013 to wait on him in a Valdosta, GA donut shop.&nbsp; At this point, you should be laughing your head off at: a) the image of JD Vance in a donut shop, 2) the setting of Valdosta, GA, iii) that Vance has purposely asked the press to eliminate the periods after both J and D \u2013 which I would have done anyway, but still&#8230; (three extra periods here, just because).&nbsp; His intrepid team sent him to a donut shop where the lady at the counter refused to be on camera!&nbsp; Needless to say, this made ordering a challenge.&nbsp; Then JD didn\u2019t seem to know what he wanted.&nbsp; \u201cWe\u2019re gonna do two dozen.&nbsp; Just a random sort of stuff here.&nbsp; It\u2019ll be a lot of glazed here, some sprinkled stuff&#8230;whatever makes sense.\u201d&nbsp; You know what makes sense?&nbsp; Knowing what kinda donuts you like!&nbsp; Watching the video (which is on <strong><u>BillyMasters.com<\/u><\/strong>), I pictured <strong>Trump <\/strong>downing a dozen donuts right then and there!&nbsp; Never trust a guy who doesn\u2019t like donuts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cHere is a sentence I never thought I\u2019d hear myself saying: I\u2019m Pete Buttigieg, and you may recognize me from FOX News\u201d &nbsp;&nbsp; \u2013 Pete Buttigieg at the Democratic National Convention.
