There was another story that hasn\u2019t gotten nearly enough coverage.  Surely you recall that in the early hours of June 18th<\/sup>, Justin Timberlake <\/strong>was arrested for drunk driving.  But was he drunk?  He refused a Breathalyzer <\/em>test (which all good lawyers suggest is a smart move).  Last week in a Sag Harbor courtroom, Timberlake pleaded guilty to \u201cdriving while ability impaired\u201d instead of \u201cdriving while impaired\u201d \u2013 which I supposed is the difference between being tired and being drunk.  He has to do 25-40 hours of community service and make a public safety announcement.  He also paid a $500 fine (add a few more zeros and you get an idea of what he paid his lawyers).  After the hearing (to which he wore a pearl necklace), he said: \u201cI try to hold myself to a very high standard for myself, and this was not that.\u201d  I\u2019d love for some English teacher to tell me how many rules he broke in that statement.  Justin added, \u201cThis is a mistake that I made but I\u2019m hoping that whoever\u2019s watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake.  I know that I certainly have.  And like I said \u2013 even one drink.  Don\u2019t get behind the wheel of the car.\u201d  Nice sentiment, but you still have to make the PSA!<\/p>\n

In a somewhat related story, JC Chasez <\/strong>has been in the news.  No, really \u2013 he has!  Stop laughing!  Apparently, he\u2019s teamed up with composer Jimmy Harry <\/strong>and will release an album next month.  Playing With Fire<\/em><\/strong> is a 16-track concept album based on Frankenstein<\/em><\/strong>!  I said stop laughing!  The press release says it will blend electronic pop and classical music.  The most curious thing about the press release was this tidbit \u2013 JC\u2019s legal name is Joshua<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t want to call Sabrina Carpenter <\/strong>a big fat liar \u2013 but that\u2019s exactly what I\u2019m going to do.  If you watched the VMA<\/em><\/strong>s last week (which I didn\u2019t), you know that Sabrina showed up wearing what she said was Bob Mackie<\/strong>\u2019s vintage gown made for Madonna<\/strong>\u2019s appearance at the 1991 Oscars<\/em><\/strong>.  Sabrina said, \u201cMadonna has always been incredibly supportive.  Word got to her that I wanted to do a Madonna look tonight, \u2018cause of all the comparisons I get to her.  And she literally sent me her Oscars <\/em>dress.  It was insane.\u201d  And it sounds insane on so many levels \u2013 partially because I\u2019m not entirely convinced Madonna knows who Sabrina Carpenter is!  Then Carpenter\u2019s stylist, Jared Ellner<\/strong>, spilled the beans.  \u201cMadonna still has the custom gown Bob Mackie made for her in her archive, but the other sample piece is the dress I believe we have.\u201d  So, for those of you keeping track, it sounds like he doesn\u2019t believe Madonna went down to FedEx <\/em>and sent Sabrina a dress!  \u2018Cause of all the comparisons, y\u2019know!<\/p>\n

Then Britney Spears <\/strong>weighed in.  Britney didn\u2019t watch the VMAs <\/em>\u2013 and that concludes this week\u2019s installment of \u201cThings Britney Spears and I Have in Common\u201d.   Spears made it clear she too has no clue who Sabrina is.  \u201cThis Sabrina girl said my name on the red carpet and I thought that was kind of cool…This Sabrina girl…Carpenter!  Thanks!  That\u2019s cool!\u201d  Britney chimed in because Sabrina paid homage to Spears\u2019 onstage kiss with Madonna by kissing an alien \u2013 and not the kinda alien that is eating all of the pets in a neighborhood.  In this case, it was an actor wearing a costume made popular in that fantastic FOX<\/em> special, Alien Autopsy \u2013 Fact or Fiction? <\/em><\/strong>(and I can answer that for you \u2013 it was fiction).  Britney says she saw the clip online and wanted to share her opinion.  \u201cWhy is she kissing an alien onstage?  I didn\u2019t understand that part.  Why didn\u2019t she kiss a girl?\u201d  And that concludes this week\u2019s installment of \u201cThings Britney Spears Doesn\u2019t Understand.\u201d<\/p>\n
