Darlene Love<\/strong> famously appeared on Broadway <\/em>in the musical Hairspray<\/em><\/strong> by Marc Shaiman <\/strong>and Scott Wittman<\/strong>.  Another Shaiman\/Wittman show is poised to take Broadway <\/em>by storm.  On March 11, 2025, the stage version of Smash<\/em><\/strong> will finally hit the Great White Way<\/em>.  The musical, based on the short-lived 2012 NBC <\/em>series of the same name, has been in the making since the show wrapped.  Rather than mount the Marilyn Monroe <\/strong>musical Bombshell<\/em><\/strong> (which is what the series was about), Smash<\/em> will be a m\u00e9lange of that show and the series drama.  The announcement was made last week on Marc Shaiman\u2019s birthday \u2013 so happy bday, Marc.  And congrats!!!<\/p>\n

Elsewhere on Broadway<\/em>, Jim Parsons <\/strong>just opened in a revival of Our Town<\/em><\/strong>, alongside the estimable talents of (among other people), Miss Katie Holmes<\/strong>.  During an interview, he was asked about the possibility of returning to the role of Sheldon Cooper.  \u201cAs we sit here now, no, but also I would never say never to anything, because life just changes so much.  You know, one of the things is that it was so special as what it was as what it is.  And they call it lightning in a bottle for a reason, and you can be certain it wouldn\u2019t be that.  And so why would we be doing it?\u201d  Perhaps one reason he\u2019s not so enthusiastic is he hasn\u2019t been away from the character for very long.  Sure, The Big Bang Theory<\/em><\/strong> wrapped in 2019, but he was executive producer and narrator on the sitcom\u2019s prequel, Young Sheldon<\/em><\/strong>, which just ended.  An unexpected twist was ending that series by showing Sheldon and wife Amy (Mayim Bialik<\/strong>) in the future.  \u201cIt just felt like a perfect little coda on the end of that entire beautiful experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

There might be similar reasons to revisit the character coming up.  For instance, his onscreen brother and sister-in-law just kicked off their own series \u2013 George and Mandy\u2019s First Marriage<\/em><\/strong>.  And that may not be the only spinoff.  There is talk for Kevin Sussman <\/strong>(manager of the comic book store), Lauren Lapkus <\/strong>(his girlfriend) and Brian Posehn <\/strong>(geologist) to have their own spinoff at HBO<\/em>, or Max<\/em>, or whatever they\u2019re calling it these days.<\/p>\n

Buzz is surrounding a return to the small screen of White Collar<\/em><\/strong>.  The show\u2019s creator Jeff Eastin <\/strong>revealed that a follow-up series, White Collar Renaissance<\/em><\/strong>, is in the works.  He\u2019s written the pilot script, titled Masquerade<\/em><\/strong> and, reportedly, Matt Bomer<\/strong>, Tim DeKay <\/strong>and Tiffani Thiessen <\/strong>are all onboard for this reboot.  Stay tuned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
