Sometimes life imitates art.  Take Ali Abbasi<\/strong>, director of the film The Apprentice<\/em><\/strong> about Donald Trump<\/strong>.  He was recently accused of groping someone.  Let\u2019s take that in \u2013 the director of a biopic chastising a guy who talked about grabbing women by the pussy, groped someone?  Ali went on Twitter<\/em>\/X<\/em>\/Whatever and said, \u201cI want to address the recent articles about me directly and openly.  I fully understand that my action made someone uncomfortable, regardless of my intent, and for that, I am sorry.\u201d  But wait…there\u2019s more.  \u201cI had spent time with the person concerned on multiple occasions and had reason to think we had a friendly relationship.  When I saw him at the Golden Globes <\/em>party, I was excited to reconnect.  I made an overly-familiar gesture \u2013 a slap on the rear \u2013 which I intended as playful and not in any sexual way whatsoever.  I quickly realized I had misjudged the situation.  I apologized to him on the spot, and the following day I made sure my apology was reiterated through my representatives.\u201d  All I got out of that was the \u201cvictim\u201d was a \u201che\u201d!  Please, God, let it have been Sebastian Stan<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Like the annual appearance of the groundhog popping up out of his hole, so goes Kevin Spacey<\/strong>…doing whatever it is he does with holes.  Guy Pearce <\/strong>was on the Hollywood Reporter\u2019s Awards Chatter<\/em> podcast and revealed that when he filmed LA Confidential<\/em><\/strong>, Kevin Spacey \u201ctargeted me, no question\u201d.  He told his then-wife about the \u201cattention\u201d, adding that the only days he felt safe on the set was when Simon Baker <\/strong>was there \u2013 because Spacey focused on Simon instead.  One can say many things about Spacey, but one can\u2019t fault him for his taste.  Pearce says the memories came flooding back during the #MeToo <\/em>movement.  \u201cI was in London working on something and I hear about it and I broke down and sobbed, and I couldn\u2019t stop.  I think it really dawned on me the impact that had occurred and how I sort of brushed it off and how I had either shelved it or blocked it out or whatever.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spacey came out swinging.  \u201cWe worked together a long time ago.  If I did something then that upset you, you could have reached out to me.  We could have had that conversation, but instead, you\u2019ve decided to speak to the press, who are now, of course, coming after me, because they would like to know what my response is to the things you said.  You really want to know what my response is?  Grow up.\u201d  He added that a year after they made that film, Guy flew to Georgia \u201cjust to spend time with me\u201d while Spacey was filming Midnight<\/em><\/strong> in the Garden of Good and Evil<\/em><\/strong>\u201d  \u201cI mean, did you tell the press that too, or does that not fit into the victim narrative you have going?  So, anyway, I apologize that I didn\u2019t get the message that you don\u2019t like spending time with me.  Maybe there was another reason, I don\u2019t know.  But that doesn\u2019t make any sense that you just would have been leading me on, right?\u201d  Hmmm.  Then he wraps it up: \u201cYou want to have a conversation?  I\u2019m happy to do so, anytime, any place.  We can even do it here, live on X, if you like.  I\u2019ve got nothing to hide.  But Guy \u2013 you need to grow up.  You are not a victim.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
