That is changing today.&nbsp;<br \/>\nI am deeply sorry for the words I used during \u2018The New Yorker\u2019<br \/>\ninterview, particularly about <strong>Kecia Lewis<\/strong>, which were<br \/>\ndemeaning and disrespectful.&nbsp; I regret my flippant<br \/>\nand emotional responses&#8230;I hope to have the chance to speak<br \/>\nto <strong>Audra <\/strong>and Kecia personally to offer my sincere apologies.<\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em> &#8211; <\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"><strong>Patti LuPone <\/strong>speaks her mind&#8230;again!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Several years ago, a friend interviewed <strong>Patti LuPone <\/strong>for a notable print interview.&nbsp; During their lengthy sessions, she made many questionable comments that the writer felt perhaps he should excise.&nbsp; He ran those by Patti and offered to cut them.&nbsp; \u201cNope, they\u2019re fine,\u201d was her response.&nbsp; Patti doesn\u2019t care about ruffling feathers, or pissing people off, or being politically incorrect.&nbsp; But she also doesn\u2019t want to hurt people unnecessarily.&nbsp; Surely I don\u2019t need to explain that she used the word \u201cbitch\u201d in the, \u201cBitch, please\u201d way.&nbsp; Certainly she didn\u2019t mean it in a racist way.&nbsp; And, for the record, there is a major problem of sound \u201cbleeding\u201d into theatres where there is a common wall.&nbsp; When I did my show <strong><em>Going Out on a Limb<\/em><\/strong> in Chicago, <strong>Dennis DeYoung<\/strong>\u2019s musical <strong><em>The Hunchback of Notre Dame<\/em><\/strong> was next door.&nbsp; While his audiences were somewhat subdued, the band had a thumping bass which needed to be adjusted.&nbsp; Yes, I complained.&nbsp; But I don\u2019t think I was being anti-hunchback (although, I probably am).&nbsp; So, when Patti complained about a neighboring theatre being loud, was she being \u201cracially microaggressive\u201d?&nbsp; No, she was saying it was too loud.&nbsp; Do I think <strong>Audra <\/strong>knew that?&nbsp;
