US Navy Secretary <\/em>John Phelan <\/strong>announced that the USNS Harvey Milk <\/em><\/strong>is going to be renamed.  Why?  According to a leaked memo, El Presidente <\/em>wants to \u201creestablish the warrior culture.\u201d  Is it just me, or is that the gayest thing you\u2019ve ever heard?  Sean Penn<\/strong>, who played Harvey Milk <\/strong>onscreen, said, \u201cI\u2019ve never before seen a Secretary of Defense <\/em>so aggressively demote himself to the rank of Chief PETTY Officer<\/em>.\u201d  OK, that was a good one!  The Navy also plans to rename such ships as the USNS Thurgood Marshall<\/em><\/strong>, the USNS Ruth Bader Ginsburg <\/em><\/strong>and the USNS Harriet Tubman<\/em><\/strong>.  I can kinda accept these changes.  After all, I don\u2019t think many sailors want to go home and say, \u201cI just spent six months on Ruth Bader Ginsburg<\/strong>!\u201d  And don\u2019t get me started on Tubman <\/strong>or Thurgood<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Perhaps because it\u2019s Pride Month, I\u2019ve come across lots of online posts titled \u201cWere They Trans?\u201d.  And they\u2019ve about people like Katharine Hepburn<\/strong>, Greta Garbo<\/strong>, Amelia Earhart<\/strong>, Boy George<\/strong>, and even Benny Hill<\/strong>!   Not all tomboys want to be men, and not every fella in a frock wants to be female.  However, it is true that Hepburn did go through a trans-adjacent period.  She told Katie Couric<\/strong>, \u201cI was called Jimmy<\/strong>, and I hated being a girl.  I really hated it.  I had three brothers, and I just shaved my head and thought, \u2018I\u2019m a boy.\u2019\u201d  What people skip is what she said next.  \u201cInside, I never felt like Jimmy.\u201d  That\u2019s why she wasn\u2019t trans.  As to Earhart (who briefly lived in my hometown), her masculinity was more about her professional aspirations \u2013 goals that were distinctly unfeminine.  I hasten to add there is no truth to the clothes making the man.  But when a man is out of them, get out of my way!<\/p>\n
