How much would you pay to get into Adam West <\/strong>and Burt Ward\u2019s <\/strong>pants?  Last week, someone paid close to $1 million to buy a collection of costumes from the Batman<\/em><\/strong> TV series \u2013 including Batman and Robin\u2019s outfits, along with ensembles worn by Yvonne Craig<\/strong>\u2019s Batgirl, Julie Newmar<\/strong>\u2019s Catwoman, and Cesar Romero<\/strong>\u2019s Joker.  These were all from the estate of collector, Dr. Stewart Berkowitz <\/strong>(no relation, I\u2019m sure).  Also on the block were Henry Winkler<\/strong>\u2019s Happy Days<\/em><\/strong> leather jacket, Barbara Eden<\/strong>\u2019s harem ensemble from I Dream of Jeannie<\/em><\/strong>, William Shatner<\/strong>\u2019s Captain Kirk get-up, Lynda Carter<\/strong>\u2019s Wonder Woman<\/em><\/strong> costume (complete with golden bracelets and lasso), Jackie Gleason<\/strong>\u2019s Honeymooners<\/em><\/strong> gear, Fred Gwynn<\/strong>\u2019s Herman Munster get-up, and even Don Adams<\/strong>\u2019 shoe phone from Get Smart<\/em><\/strong>.  Casa Berkowitz <\/em>must have been really popular around Halloween!<\/p>\n

Last week, Bette Midler <\/strong>hosted her annual Hulaween<\/em><\/strong>, which raised money for the New York Restoration Project<\/em>.  This was the 30th<\/sup> annual event, so it was with some dubious distinction that Bette was given the Catalyst Award <\/em>\u2013 from the organization she founded.  \u201cYes, it\u2019s true \u2013 I\u2019m no longer a spring chicken.  I\u2019m no longer a summer chicken.  I\u2019m not even a fall chicken.  I\u2019m an endangered chicken at this point.  However, I am honored to accept the Catalyst Award <\/em>tonight because I did do something.  I did.  I actually did do something.\u201d  The presentation was made by Billy Crystal<\/strong>, which reunited the costars of 2012\u2019s Parental Guidance<\/em><\/strong>.  Bette then regaled the crowed with a rendition of \u201cPretty Legs, Great Big Knockers\u201d.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile in Hollywood, the costars of Monster-in-Law<\/em><\/strong> had a reunion at Variety<\/em>\u2019s Power of Women<\/em><\/strong> event.  No, J-Lo <\/em><\/strong>wasn\u2019t there.  But Jane Fonda <\/strong>went to present an award to Wanda Sykes<\/strong>.  When musing on their past, she said, \u201cIt was a challenging shoot \u2013 not just \u2018cause I had to keep slapping Jennifer Lopez <\/strong>\u2013 \u2018cause I had to keep a straight face when working with Wanda.  We both like to improve, so I never knew what she was going to say.  And I swear, every take would get funnier and funnier.\u201d  When Wanda got up, she recounted how she tried to plan a recent dinner with Jane, but unfortunately Fonda was \u201cin the Amazon meeting with the Indigenous people to discuss climate change.\u201d  She wrapped up by saying, \u201cGod doesn\u2019t send you things \u2013 he sends you people.  So, I realized then that God sent Jane to make us all feel shitty about ourselves.  We need to be better folks.\u201d<\/p>\n
