Everyone is talking about how well King Charles<\/strong>\u2019 visit to the US went.  But almost nobody is talking about the numerous faux pas<\/em>.  For instance, in honor of his arrival, 15 British Union Jacks were to be installed along 17th<\/sup> Street NW in DC.  However, the Department of Transportation <\/em>accidentally hoisted 15 Australian flags \u2013 which feature a Union Jack in the corner.  Potato\/Potahto.  Happily, the error was fixed before the royals arrived.  During the farewell ceremony at Arlington<\/em> National<\/em> Cemetery<\/em>, the Union Jack was flown…upside down!  That is a symbol of distress or \u201clese Majeste<\/em>\u201d \u2013 which literally means \u201cinsulting the crown\u201d.  Accident?  Methinks not.  Did you think Donny <\/strong>would let Chuck get the last laugh?  I know we said \u201cNo Kings\u201d, but could we please have this one?<\/p>\n

Happy Anniversary, El Presidente<\/em>.  Ten years ago last week, he participated in a Today<\/em><\/strong> town hall during his first bid for the presidency.  This question came via Twitter<\/em>: \u201cMr. Trump<\/strong>, please be specific and tell us views of LGBT and how you plan to be inclusive.  Speak abt NC Bathroom law.\u201d  The proposed NC law in question was to require bathroom use to match people\u2019s gender at birth.  Trump said, \u201cOne of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday saying, \u2018Leave it the way it is right now.  There have been very few problems.  Leave it the way it is.\u2019\u201d  He added, \u201cPeople go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate.  There has been so little trouble.\u201d  Matt Lauer <\/strong>followed up, \u201cSo if Caitlyn Jenner <\/strong>were to walk into Trump<\/em> Tower<\/em> and want to use the bathroom, you would be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?\u201d  Trump said, \u201cThat is correct.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile in Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis <\/strong>signed a law banning any city or county in the state from supporting Gay Pride<\/em>.  It was previously nicknamed the \u201cAnti-Diversity in Local Government\u201d bill and it goes into effect January 2027.  If a state entity supports any Pride event, they could lose their funding and the people involved could be removed from office.  While Pride events are not banned, they cannot be funded or promoted by the state.  This includes supporting LGBTQ youth housing and HIV outreach.<\/p>\n

Someone who certainly understands the need for the government to support the gay community is former Congressman Barney Frank<\/strong>.  \u201cWhen I decided, finally, to come out in \u201987, it just struck me when I did that…the American people are a lot less homophobic than they thought they were supposed to be.\u201d  He has reportedly entered hospice care due to congestive heart failure.  However, he says he feels \u201cvery good \u2013 no pain, no discomfort.\u201d  \u201cAt 86, I\u2019ve made it longer than I thought.  At some point, my heart\u2019s just going to give out, and it\u2019s reaching that stage.\u201d  He added, \u201cOne of my regrets is that I won\u2019t see the continued implosion of Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before we leave politics completely, here\u2019s a question lots of people have been asking \u2013 what happened to all the food that was going to be served at the White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner<\/em><\/strong>?  The 2,600 guests got to choose between lobster and steak (presumably there was also a veggie option).  Obviously we know some people refused to go under their table without their emotional support lobster.  The rest of the unserved meals were freeze-dried before being donated to two different area shelters for abused women and children.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
