Another week in Ptown, and the strangest encounter of the summer \u2013 perhaps of the year (so far, at least).  I was chatting with some people at the delightful ScottCakes<\/em><\/strong>, with the equally delightful proprietor, Scott <\/strong>himself.  As I enjoyed a mini ScottCake<\/em>, Scott was telling some people about my column and other things I do.  That\u2019s when one of them turned to me and said, \u201cAre you Lady Bunny<\/strong>?\u201d  I was never more simultaneously flattered and horrified \u2013 although, when you think about it, under her distinctive \u201clook\u201d, she really could be anybody!  Scott set them straight by saying, \u201cHe\u2019s Billy Masters<\/strong>,\u201d and happily the other person didn\u2019t look blankly and ask, \u201cWho?\u201d  He was impressed, so I slept with him \u2013 \u2018cause, you know, I\u2019ll do anything for a fan, or a stranger…or for a ScottCake<\/em>!<\/p>\n

I was in town to see Joy Behar <\/strong>being interviewed by Judy Gold <\/strong>onstage at Town Hall<\/em>, courtesy of producer Mark Cortale<\/strong>.  Judy did a fantastic job hosting the show, which also included a number of questions from the eager audience.  Fun Fact \u2013 in the summer of 2015, Joy was in Provincetown enjoying her retirement after the second time she was fired from The View<\/em><\/strong>.  She was looking around for a drag show to attend (which is really quite easy), when her cell phone rang.  It was the producer from The View<\/em>, asking if she would be interested in returning to host the show on Fridays.  She said, \u201cI\u2019ll think about it \u2013 I have to go see Varla Jean Merman<\/strong>.\u201d  The rest, as they say, is history.  Speaking of history, around 30 years ago when I was doing stand-up on a more regular basis, I opened for Joy Behar at Catch a Rising Star <\/em>in Cambridge.  After the Ptown show, I showed Joy a photo of us from that time.  \u201cMy God, I\u2019m so young!\u201d she said.  \u201cWhat about me?\u201d I asked.  \u201cPlease, you look exactly the same.\u201d  While I disagree, I\u2019ll post photos of before and after on BillyMasters.com<\/u><\/strong><\/a> and you can decide for yourself.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
