Since we’re updating recent scandals, let’s revisit Ian Reisner <\/strong>and Mati Weiderpass<\/strong>.\u00a0 You remember them – the gay business partners who hosted a soir\u00e9e<\/em> for Republican presidential candidate, Ted Cruz<\/strong>.\u00a0 To get their side of the story out, the couple invited a reporter from New York<\/em> magazine into the penthouse (referred to as “the crime scene”).\u00a0 When pointing out were Cruz sat, Weiderpass said that this was also where a group of his friends played Naked Twister <\/em>a few years back – a bon mot <\/em>I bet they didn’t share with Cruz!\u00a0 The pair went into great detail about their past service to the gay community and how the meeting with Cruz was more about foreign affairs and diplomacy than about any gay agenda.\u00a0 Then Ian tried to explain how running The Out NYC <\/em>hotel and nightclub complex has been more of a philanthropic endeavor rather than a financial one.\u00a0 He says that his vision was to have a venue to showcase gay artists in the vicinity of Broadway.\u00a0 Commendable.\u00a0 Alas, he didn’t end there. \u00a0“My only point is, this has not been a profitable venture.\u00a0 Gays are cheap.\u00a0 They’re frugal; gays are frugal.\u00a0 Let me retract that – gays are entitled…\u00a0 Do you know how challenging it is to make a penny off a gay person?\u00a0 ‘I’m gay, I don’t pay cover.’\u00a0 ‘I’m gay, where’s my comp drink?’\u00a0 No, I’m being serious!\u00a0 The Out NYC <\/em>has not shown a profit yet.”\u00a0 Hey, I’m Billy Masters<\/strong>, and the last time I was there, I was charged for my drinks (although someone else paid for them).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
