You may know that Billy Bean came out way back in 1999 – only the second Major League Baseball player to do so.  Even after he retired from playing pro ball, he returned to the sport as the MLB’s first Ambassador for Inclusion in 2014.  Later, he became the league’s Senior Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.  He was truly a leader in our community, and for me, a dear personal friend.  Last year, Billy was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.  He passed away on August 6^th.  He was one of the good guys and will be missed.
