“David, I know you’re a sophisticated guy.”
– Donald Trump to David Muir.  Is “sophisticated guy” some kinda archaic code that’s coming back?
Like “confirmed bachelor”?

The night after his first interview as president with ABC‘s David Muir, Donald Trump sat down with Sean Hannity on Fox News.  Hannity had problems with Muir’s interview.  “If I had an opportunity to speak with David Muir, I’d say, ‘OK, two guys go into your house.  They kidnap your child.  One guy gets away with your child.  You tackle the other guy.  That guy knows where your child is.  You don’t waterboard that guy?'”  This begs the question – who is in charge of fact checking at Fox News?  Because if there’s a child in David Muir’s house, that sure would be news!  As to the first part – about two guys going into Muir’s house – well, that’s probably a regular occurrence.

You know who used to ask great questions?  Dan Rather.  Sure, towards the end he got a little crazy with his barnyard analogies about chickens and horses.  But even on his worst day, he was a newsman’s newsman.  Well, he’s back.  Not only is he pissed off at Trump’s “alternative facts”, he’s mad at the media for allowing it to happen.  What’s he gonna do about it?  What any retiree would do – he started a Facebook page.  In the three weeks since it launched, News and Guts has almost half a million followers.  Check it out.

Something causing our new president many sleepless nights is the question about how many people attended his coronation….er, inauguration.  To set the record straight, he ordered the National Park Service to find photos backing up his claims of the crowd size.  Trump even took time out of his interview with Muir to show him a framed photo of the teeming throngs on either side of the podium – rather than the long-shots most media outlets ran.  It’s been my experience that when you’re asked to pay attention to girth over length, it inevitably leads to tears.
