Ricky Rumor, Cheyenne Benefits

Since I’m using my foreign tongue these days, this next story seems appropriate.  Eduardo Verastegui was a member of one of my favorite Latin boy bands, Kairo, which consisted of three of the hottest guys ever.  Later, he appeared in a few telenovelas and the flick, Chasing Papi (he was papi).  At the time, he was rumored to be a member of our tribe.  Then he came out as anti-marriage equality, ran for president of Mexico (he lost), and became involved in Christian entertainment.  It’s worth mentioning that putting Christians in an arena with lions was also considered “entertainment”.  But, I digress.  Eduardo was romantically linked with Mexican actress/model Aracely Arambula.  She was once at a Ricky Martin concert in Mexico City and reportedly said, “And to think that the guy up there singing stole my boyfriend.”  Of course, we don’t know who she said this to, and she’s never confirmed it.  But it was allegedly witnessed by Ana Maria Alvarado, a Mexican journalist.  This old story recently came up when a reporter asked Verastegui about the rumor.  “It’s a lie, and you all know it.  I know who I am.”  The report got back to Ricky, and he addressed it on Instagram.  “Laughing here because what else can I do.  Just so we’re clear, I have NEVER seen Eduardo Verastegui’s ‘pipi’ – not his ‘pipi’ or ANYTHING.”  I’m not entirely sure that’s a denial.  After all, I’ve slept with scores of fellas I couldn’t identify in a police lineup!

Every once in a while, a friend of mine sees a good actor in a terrible movie and calls it their “health insurance role” – something they probably did to keep their benefits.  Most actors don’t admit to such things, which is why it was so refreshing when Cheyenne Jackson went public.  He’s previously talked about needing to work to keep his benefits, and then he posted a photo with Kathy Bates with this caption: “Last year, Kathy Bates helped me qualify for my SAG-AFTRA health insurance by helping me get 5 lines on an episode of Matlock.  This year, two dear girlfriends helped me get there.  I know what it feels like to be one job away…and what it means when someone actually comes through.  So I’m starting a little series called ‘ONE JOB AWAY’, spotlighting fellow actors who are close to qualifying for their SAG health insurance and could use a little help with that next booking.  I’ll share their faces, their work, and how to reach them.  Casting directors, producers, friends making things…maybe your next hire is someone you meet here.  Actors…DM me your info if you want to be featured.  Sometimes we all need somebody to put our name in the room.”  I’m falling more and more in love with Cheyenne each and every day.
